Way of the Wind – Katana Moveset
Fade into the wind after every attack, and choose to continue your assault, or wait for your moment to strike.
This moveset is something I’ve been thinking a lot about; an elegant way to continue your attack combo, while also dodging enemy attacks skillfully. This is the “alpha version” of my efforts, and I’d love to hear any feedback.
After an attack, you become one with the wind, and fade away.
You are invulnerable while in this state.
While invisible, you can choose to attack again quickly, or remain invisible to find your opening.
This allows you to relentlessly push forward while chaining your combo and weaving through the opponent’s attacks.
Using this to its full potential is VERY HARD! This is not an easy playstyle to pick up. But it’s extremely satisfying to master.
1.1 Update:
Added fadeout to jump attacks and guard counter attack
Added fadeout to final attack in 1H combo
Improved speed and fadeout of 2nd 2H attack
Lowered stamina cost and reduced posture damage of 2nd 2H attack
Reduced amount of airslashes on 1st 1H attack
Fixed hitbox on 2H jump attack
Things to note:
While invisible, moving the left stick will not move your character. It will instead choose the direction of the next attack. This feels really weird to get used to, and I’m not sure if I like it or not. Feedback welcome!
Heavy attacks are unchanged. Charge attacks don’t really work with the blink-around nature of the moveset.
The air-blade effects are not meant to have a hitbox. (Except for the sheathe cut explosion)
The 5th attack in the 2H chain can be followed up with a jump attack. Pretty cool!
To Install
1.Download Mod Engine 2 here: https://github.com/soulsmods/ModEngine2/releases
Click Assets, then download the top .zip file.
Extract the contents of the .zip onto your PC.
2.Download the mod and extract the contents of the zip file into the “mod” folder in the same directory as the “modengine2_launcher.exe”.
Click launchmod_eldenring.bat to launch the game.
