Extended Status Icons resource for ELDEN RING
by ivi#0451 @sennoutantei
This bundle allows your ELDEN RING mod to use additional status icons on a clean separate texture without touching the existing ELDEN RING texture.
1) ONE-TIME Initial Mod Setup
– In your mod, use Yabber to unpack menu/hi/01_common.tpf.dcx and menu/hi/01_common.sblytbnd.dcx
– Copy the attached SB_Status_01.layout file into the unpacked /01_common-sblytbnd-dcx folder next to all the other .layout files in there.
– Edit the _yabber-bnd4.xml file at the root of the unpacked /01_common-sblytbnd-dcx folder.
At the end of the listing of files, but before the closing tag, add a new entry:
<file>
<flags>0x40</flags>
<id>43</id>
<root>N:\</root>
<path>GR\data\Menu\ScaleForm\SBLayout\01_Common\Hi\SB_Status_01.layout</path>
</file>
Adjust the entry to follow the other IDs (if it hasn’t been edited before, 43 should be fine).
– Edit the _yabber-tpf.xml file at the root of the unpacked /01_common-tpf-dcx folder.
At the end of the listing of files, but before the closing tag, add a new entry:
<texture>
<name>SB_Status_01.dds</name>
<format>0x66</format>
<flags1>0x00</flags1>
<flags2>0x00000000</flags2>
</texture>
– (See Step 2) Use your favorite image editing software to open the SB_Status_01.PSD file, add your icons, and save it as SB_Status_01.DDS using your favorite DDS conversion tool. (Turn mipmaps OFF)
– Copy this new SB_Status_01.dds file into the unpacked /01_common-tpf-dcx folder next to all the other .dds files in there.
– Use Yabber to re-pack the /01_common-sblytbnd-dcx and /01_common-tpf-dcx folders.
– (See Step 3) Hook up your fresh new icons in the SpEffectParam.
2) How to use the PSD file
Many modern editing softwares should be able to open the Photoshop format.
For your convenience, the file contains useful layers:
– “Original Icons”: The original icons from the regular icon sheet, for comparison and reference. Hidden by default.
– “Guidelines”: Grid lines and IDs for each icon. The 40×40 space inside the red grid is the actual icon, the 4 pixels between the red and blue are just empty spacing.
HIDE THIS BEFORE SAVING YOUR FILE! If you’re Photoshop-savvy, use the layer mask instead to hide what you need.
– “Diamond”: An ELDEN RING style Diamond icon (for “temporary” buffs) with optional buff and debuff arrows for your editing convenience.
– “Square”: An ELDEN RING style Square icon (for “permanent” buffs from gear) with optional buff and debuff arrows for your editing convenience.
– A Bugcat Capoo to demonstrate how icons are placed.
3) How to use in DSMapStudio
To use the icons ingame, provide the right icon ID to the according SpEffectParam you’re trying to attach the icon to.
The correct ID is:
20500 + (ID ON THE SHEET)
So, to display icon #173 from the sheet, put (20500 + 173) = 20673 in your SpEffect’s iconId field.
Happy modding!
