Somewhat Cheating – Better Merchants

This immersive mod changes nearly every merchant in Elden Ring so they sell more armor, weapons, and common crafting materials without cheating too hard.

Warning
Do not attempt to play online with this mod or you may be banned!
Any and all mods you download should be enjoyed offline.
Backup your saves!
Also, disabling Easy Anti-Cheat is, like, super bad.
You should definitely research how to disable it to ensure your hand doesn’t accidentally slip and turn it off.

No more farming for items, Tarnished, the Merchants did it for you!
Merchants now sell significantly more armor, weapons, and crafting materials
Some prices are quite high and not all items are sold to maintain a semblance of balance

This is the first mod I’ve tried to install. What do I do?
(1) Download and unzip my mod wherever you’d like
(2a) Open File Explorer
(2b) Navigate to your Elden Ring install directory. This is typically C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ELDEN RING\Game
(3a) Locate the file regulation.bin
(3b) Create a copy of this file and back it up somewhere safe. If anything ever goes wrong, replacing your modified regulation.bin with this original copy will restore your game back to normal
(4a) Move my regulation.bin file to your Elden Ring install directory. Again, this is usually C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\ELDEN RING\Game
(4b) Overwrite the file when asked
(5) Launch Elden Ring, and enjoy!

To edit your own merchants, use Yapped Rune Bear

Yapped is surprisingly easy once you know your way around! It is highly recommended you use it and get familiar with it. To get started, I recommend downloading and reading the PDF guide I wrote on creating custom starting classes. While the Param (left column in Yapped) you learn to edit is different, the fundamentals are essentially the same. The PDF can be found on the Files tab, right below the mod download.

Some of these items were added by swapping Equip ID, Value, Sell Quantity, and Equip Type in Yapped. Example

Equip IDs can be found here

Some items were added by creating new inventory spaces for merchants. Merchant inventory is allocated in sets of 25 rows. In this example Merchant Kale’s inventory starts at row 100500 but Miriel’s inventory ends at row 100443. So, there are 6 rows available to add to Miriels inventory: rows 100444-100449. You can use Tools -> Add Row or Tools -> Duplicate Row as needed to create new rows, then change Equip Id, Value, Sell Quantity, and other values as needed to make Miriel sell what you want. Repeat as needed for any merchants you want to edit.

CAUTION: ‘Visibility – Event Flag ID’ should be set to zero if you want an item to appear in their inventory by default. Having a value of anything other than zero means the sale of that item by the merchant requires a trigger, usually a quest flag. Without the trigger, the item will not be sold by the merchant.

WARNING: ‘On Purchase – Event Flag ID’ determines which inventory space is deducted from when you make a purchase. It’s easy to miss this and have multiple rows with the same value. This causes issues. Say row 100500 is 10 Daggers and row 100501 is 5 Telescopes. If these two distinct rows have the same value for ‘On Purchase – Event Flag ID’ then buying one Telescope will ALSO take away one Dagger from the merchant’s stock, yet you will only be charged for the Telescope without receiving a Dagger. One Dagger just disappears from the merchant’s stock. If you ever add new rows to ShopLineupParam, your ‘On Purchase – Event Flag ID’ value should be swapped around as such: take the second to left decimal for the row, swap it with the third from the right. Place the third from the left decimal at the end: 100443 -> 140430, 100773 -> 170730, 100952 -> 190520, etc. Yeah it’s complicated and weird. I do not recommend adding new merchant inventories unless you feel comfortable in Yapped

If you load these changes with an existing save, some items you’ve purchased may no longer be in stock. Example: Patches used to sell a finite number of Fan Throwing Knives. If you bought all of them, the item I swapped them with (Iron Spear) may be sold out. This bug can only be fixed by starting a new character, or starting a new game cycle.

I will not be updating this mod for compatibility with future versions of Elden Ring, but I will always try to fix any bugs that are reported!
