Simple Filmic Reshade (Vanilla Enhancement)
A simple Reshade that takes advantage of the filmic tonemapper. Deepens shadows, brightens highlights, and slightly increases saturation all while staying true to FromSoft’s intended color grading and atmosphere.
In all of FromSoft’s games, I feel like they ‘blow’ the image out too much; they have a tendency to make it too grey/light with not enough depth to the shadows.
This is a simple adjustment that makes it so that dungeons and shadowy corners are darker and bright things are brighter (without losing detail) while making the overworld, in particular, more vibrant and dynamic.
It is as FromSoft intended, but just that bit better which nonetheless makes a major difference, enhancing what is already there.
The images are always Reshade ON first, then OFF second.
Installation:
1) Download the file (SimpleFilmicReshade.ini) and place it in your main Elden Ring directory (where the executable is).
2) Go to reshade.me and download 5.02 (future versions will be fine as well).
3) Install to Elden Ring’s main directory, selecting the executable when prompted.
4) When asked to select a preset, select the SimpleFilmicReshade.ini.
–> Selecting a preset here allows Reshade to automatically know which effects to download. If you do install manually, just be sure to select ‘Color Effects.’
5) Select ‘Next’ until the installation is complete.
6) When in-game, note the pop-up at the top. Press the ‘Home’ key to go through the small tutorial. ‘SimpleFilmicReshade’ should be active if you did (4).
7) Optional: go to the third tab (‘Settings’) to set your hotkeys for toggling the effect (default is unbound; I use ‘Insert’) and screenshots (default is ‘Print Screen’).
Enjoy! If so inclined, feel free to manually download more effects and experiment yourself; Reshade is an awesome tool that I use with virtually every PC game.
