Be Your Own Mule
Character pack containing all 10 character classes at base RL, with pretty much every legal item in the game, including but not limited to weapons, armor, upgrades, consumables, certain key items, etc. Includes both a Standard Edition with minimal progress, and a Duelist’s Edition with the characters already at Academy Main Gate.
So, tell me if you’ve been here before. You have a cool new build that you want to test out & run through the game with, but you can’t get anyone to help you transfer the items to your new build. Maybe you asked a friend over Discord, or posted on a muling subreddit, or whatever; point is, you’re stuck, unable to start this character you so desperately want to try. Well friend, no more. Because now you can…
BE YOUR OWN MULE
Current Version (Standard Edition) – 1.0
Current Version (Duelist’s Edition) – 1.0
Be Your Own Mule is a character pack containing all 10 character classes at base RL, created using Grand Merchant. These characters each have pretty much every legal item in the game, outside of certain quest items, namely keys & medallions. Specifically, this character pack contains, per character:
- Max runes on character & a bloodstain with max runes by the Stranded Graveyard site of grace (enough to max RL between both)
- Two of each weapon, as well as max ammunition for ranged weapons
- Max of every upgrade material
- Every Whetstone Knife
- 10x of each Ash of War (5 in inventory, 5 in chest)
- Every piece of armor
- Every Talisman & all Talisman Pouches
- Every Sorcery & Incantation, as well as all Memory Stones
- Every Spirit Ash
- Every multiplayer item
- Full map unlocked
- All Great Runes
- All Crystal Tears
- All cookbooks & recipes
- All Bell Bearings
- Full map unlocked
- Max of all consumables (NOT tools)
- Max of each crafting item, as well as all cracked pots, ritual pots, & perfume bottles
- 99x Larval Tears & 99x Festering Bloody Fingers (game allows you to carry more in chest but lacks actual values for stored items; erring on the side of caution), and 699x Celestial Dews
- 12x Sacred Tears & 30x Golden Seeds to max flasks
- Every Gesture
WHY DOES THIS EXIST?
I used to run a small muling service during the later days of DS3, and was considering doing so for ER. However, considering how big ER is, and how running that muling service in DS3 practically became a second job, I decided to look for a pre-made solution. I was looking around, found a few saves that had a single character with everything, but not any saves that had all 10 starting classes with everything. So I decided I’d put in the time to get this made, so that players who just want to crank out builds can do so quickly.
You want to use this to make a max-RL monster & be an overleveled phantom to carry people through co-op? Go ahead! Want to make a meta-level character & duel at Academy Gates? By all means! Want to be a scumbag low-RL invader & kill people as they attempt Tree Sentinel? You do you! This character pack can do all those things, and whatever RL you want. You’re in complete control. All you need to do to rename & customize these characters is to go to Roundtable Hold & use the mirror in Fia’s room.
WILL THIS GET ME BANNED?
Any time you use a mod in an online game with some form of anti-cheat or anti-tamper system, you are explicitly risking a ban from that game’s detection methods. Take this into consideration when installing any mod, regardless of how safe someone says it is.
THAT BEING SAID, I do not believe that this character pack should get you banned. There is no cut content on any characters, every item has its proper stats, and users of the utility that inspired this pack, SL1 – Wretch – All Item Starter Save – Game Version 1.04, have not reported being banned for the items contained within both that utility & this character pack.
REQUIRED TOOLS
To use this character pack, you will also need some form of save organizer, a Steam ID patcher for the save file, and a character transfer utility. Luckily, Elden Ring Save Manager happens to have all those utilities built in, and more. I highly suggest using this save manager; the character pack was specifically made with this particular tool in mind. However, so long as you use tools that are able to do these three things, you should be fine. I’ve also included a template save file with all 10 slots populated & named, as a character needs to be present in a given save slot for the suggested tool to be able to copy the mule characters into a given save file.
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS/HOW TO USE
These instructions assume you are using the above suggested utility, Elden Ring Save Manager, and already have this utility installed.
- Ensure there is a character in the save slot you wish to copy the mule character to, or use the provided template savefile to start a brand new profile.
- Download the character pack & extract it.
- Open Elden Ring Save Manager & click File > Import Save File; it should automatically patch the save file with your Steam ID. Rename the save file so that you know what it is.
- Click Tools > Character Manager. Select the name you saved the character pack under as source, and your chosen save as destination.
- Select the character from the pack’s save, and then the character slot in the destination save you wish to copy it to. There must already be a character in the slot you wish to copy the character from the pack over to; just create a character & exit immediately after the initial cutscene & that will be enough.
- Click copy; that character should now be on that save file. The save manager will not allow duplicate names, so copying the same character multiple times will result in a default name. When done, click Cancel.
- You can choose to rename the characters before entering the game by right-clicking the save file & selecting “Rename Character.”
- Launch the game & load into the character(s) you copied to update their portrait, level, location, & play time.
LIMITATIONS & WARNINGS
- Beyond Roundtable Hold, there are 5 Sites of Grace active – Stranded Graveyard, The First Step, Church of Elleh, Gatefront, and Lake-Facing Cliffs. Duelist’s Edition also has a 6th active Site of Grace, the Main Academy Gate.
- Melina & Renna have both been met; your character answered yes in both scenes.
- Many quest items, namely keys & medallions, have not yet been collected; basically, things required to progress you through the game. Duelist’s Edition specifically has the Glintstone Key required to reach Main Academy Gate.
- There are no notes or other info items, as the game does not appear to properly flag them when gained through Grand Merchant.
- Ashes of War are unable to be duplicated due to a world flag issue; you MUST collect them in-world before being able to duplicate them.
- It is suggested you do NOT give Boc either of the Sewing Needles before encountering them in the world, as the game will give you another copy since you technically have room for it in your inventory. You’re most likely to encounter this in the early stages of the quest, when Boc goes to Coastal Cave to retrieve his belongings. Don’t give him the needle when prompted, just go fight the boss. The extra copy will fall to the ground & then disappear upon reloading the area.
- Handing in Blackguard’s Bell Bearing before buying Rya’s necklace will softlock his quest.
- It is suggested that you do not grab any of the once-per-NG-cycle reusable tools of the ground until NG+; while it is legal to have multiple copies of each item as they respawn each NG cycle, they cannot be dropped or discarded. While I haven’t ever heard of anyone getting banned for having too many of these, better safe than sorry.
- Rogier’s Rapier +0 is technically an illegal item, as you can only get the +8 version in game; again, I have not heard of anyone getting banned for this. If you’re overly concerned, discard them.
- Serpent Hunter is technically a once-per-character item, making that second illegal; however, there is a legal method to obtaining a second copy, which involves being summoned after grabbing your copy in your world. Apparently, the game doesn’t properly flag that you have already grabbed yours, and upon returning to your world a second copy should be right where the first was.
- This is obviously a glitch, but makes it also technically legal. Again, if you’re overly concerned, discard the second copy.
- Remember, Rogier & Edgar will give you upgraded weapons, as well as Patches if you actually kill him. If you wish to maintain a lower WL for matchmaking purposes, avoid talking to Rogier after killing Godwyn & do not pick up his items upon death. Edgar is a bit trickier, but killing him at Castle Morne & reloading SHOULD allow you to loot his Shabriri Grape without picking up his weapon. Just stay away from Revenger’s Shack, as the game forces the item into your inventory upon death. And if you kill Patches, you’re just not allowed to download this character pack, sorry XD
