Cursed Challenge Items
This mod adds items that curse you with debuffs (and some buffs) while in your inventory, intended to be used in challenge runs.
How to get the curses:
After installing the mod you will automatically get an item called “Challenge Elixir” (reusable tool, should be close to the lantern). Drinking it will give you every challenge curse at the same time, so do so near a grace, so you can deposit the ones you don’t want (the curses are in the ‘key items’ section).
The curses:
Rally curse:
- you have the rally mechanic from Malenia’s Great Rune
- you cannot restore HP from crimson flasks
Drain curse:
- you have the successive attack heal mechanic from Godskin Swaddling Cloth
- you cannot restore HP from crimson flasks
Blessed curse
- you slowly regenerate HP
- you cannot restore HP from crimson flasks
Crimson curse
- you cannot restore HP from crimson flasks
Starlight curse
- you slowly regenerate FP
- you cannot restore FP from cerulean flasks
Cerulean curse
- you cannot restore FP from cerulean flasks
Burden curse
- you are always overburdened
Charging curse
- you can only deal damage with charged attacks, skills or spells
Consumable curse
- you can only deal damage with pots, perfumes, other thrown items, bows and crossbows
Roar curse
- you can only deal damage with shouts and breath attacks (including dragon communion breaths, unlike…)
Magic/ Fire/ Lightning/ Holy/ Non physical curse
- you can only deal magic/ fire/ lightning/ holy / non physical damage
Slash/ Pierce/ Strike/ Standard/ Physical curse
- you can only deal slash/ pierce/ strike/ standard/ physical damage
Installation:
It’s recommended to install the mod with ModEngine2.
Drop the content of the downloaded mod archive into the mod folder of ModEngine2 and then launch the game with ModEngine2.
Merging:
Since this mod only adds new items and effects, merging should be relatively simple (especially if the only conflict is the regulation.bin, use DS Map Studio for that). I won’t explain dcx merging here, but if you have done that before, then this shouldn’t be a challenge. As usual, you don’t need to merge the item.msgbnd.dcx file if you are happy with the item icons and don’t need the item names and descriptions.
