Elden Ring Cheat Engine
Elden Ring has been available for a few weeks, and a mod allowing the game to be paused has already surfaced. A resourceful user, known as Marcus101RR, has created a cheat table for Elden Ring using the widely-used CheatEngine utility.
If this interests you, continue reading, but be aware that this tool is intended solely for offline mode (for good reason). It’s unclear how closely FromSoftware is monitoring save files and user activities. As a result, you might risk a ban if you return to online mode, even if you’ve carefully isolated your modified saves.
How to install Elden Ring cheats:
To utilize Marcus’ tools, you must first download their cheat table and CheatEngine from its official website. Be cautious when downloading, as CheatEngine’s installer is known to include third-party adware separate from the utility itself, and even experienced users might accidentally consent to the download through a confusing EULA.
Marcus’ setup instructions are somewhat brief and assume you have already disabled Elden Ring’s Easy Anti-Cheat. One method, suggested by Shamadruu forum thread on the project, involves the following steps:
- Navigate to your Steam install folder (steamapps/users/common/Elden Ring/Game)
- Rename “start_protected_game.exe” to something else (any name will do, as long as you can change it back)
- Rename “eldenring.exe” to “start_protected_game.exe,” effectively replacing the original Easy Anti-Cheat launcher
It’s unclear if this change forces the game to run offline, or if you’ll need to manually set it yourself after changing the .exe’s. If the game doesn’t default to offline mode, close the game and launch Steam in offline mode. Logging into a character while online could result in FromSoftware’s detection system flagging and banning you, similar to Dark Souls 3.
Next, follow Marcus’ instructions for running the cheat table, but attach CheatEngine to “start_protected_game.exe” instead of “eldenring.exe.” The original instructions likely assumed a different method for bypassing Easy Anti-Cheat.
At this point, you can use Marcus’ table for typical CheatEngine functions, such as editing stats and equipment or running custom scripts.
Additional cheat tables have emerged, including Hexington’s “Ultimate cheat table,” which allows spell parameter editing. You may also need ID codes for weapons, gear, and Sites of Grace if you’re attempting to cheat your way to new locations or acquire new armor. A growing list of Elden Ring IDs is being compiled by Hexington and other players.
To re-enable Easy Anti-Cheat for online play, simply reverse the steps.
Keep in mind that you risk corrupting your saves or facing an online ban. Some users have discussed editing a save in offline mode and then returning to online play, with a few claiming success.
However, FromSoftware has performed weekly account checks in the past, detecting even minor changes made to saves while offline. The safest approach would be to move a modded save to another folder before going back online, but this might not be enough to avoid detection—it’s too early to tell in Elden Ring’s lifecycle.
Ultimately, this vigilance is beneficial, as the Souls games have experienced significant online cheating issues in the past. Thankfully, Elden Ring seems to have resolved the security vulnerabilities present in Dark Souls 3. Nonetheless, if you wish to explore Elden Ring cheats in offline mode, the choice is yours.
