Windowed HDR Workaround
If Elden Ring’s HDR mode is not working for you, this makes it possible to run the game in borderless windowed mode with HDR enabled.
Elden Ring has a glitchy fullscreen mode and uses outdated APIs that require fullscreen to implement its HDR mode. This workaround enables
running the game in borderless windowed mode with HDR enabled, using current APIs.
If HDR is already working well for you in Elden Ring, don’t use this as it will probably make things worse. The game’s use of older APIs
remains, so if that actually does something it will probably conflict with this workaround and cause new problems.
Windowed HDR Workaround is implemented as a slightly modified version of ReShade, so you can also use it as you would a ReShade dll, but be aware that most filters will be incompatible with HDR.
Usage
- Copy the provided dxgi.dll to the same folder as eldenring.exe.
- Enable HDR mode in Windows.
- Run the game with Easy Anti-Cheat disabled.
- Use Offline launcher (No EAC) or similar.
- Set the game to display in fullscreen mode (it will be ignored.)
- Enable HDR in game.
Colors will be incorrect during game startup, until the main menu appears.
HDR has to be enabled in-game for colors to appear correctly. If you want to disable it, remove the dll.
